Pocola and Arkoma are LeFlore County towns that sit right up against Fort Smith. Arkoma's name is literally the two states stuck together. A large share of households here cross the line every morning for work and cross back every evening, which makes almost every service question a two-state question — and dental insurance is the one that trips people up.
Here's the useful part: we have an office on each side. Fort Smith at 5901 Riley Park Dr., Suite A, (479) 226-3500, and Roland at 307 E Ray Fine Blvd., Suite 1, (918) 503-6262. Same practice, same doctors in most cases, one chart. You pick the one that fits your day.
The Two-State Insurance Question, Answered Plainly
Most dental plans around here are national carriers, and we are in network with the ones that dominate both states: Delta Dental Premier, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Aetna, MetLife, Guardian, United Concordia, Healthchoice, Sun Life, Principal, Assurant and America's.
The complication people run into is that several of those carriers operate separate provider networks in Arkansas and Oklahoma under one brand. Same logo on the card, different roster behind it. So the honest answer to "are you in network?" isn't yes or no — it depends on which state issued your plan, and sometimes on which of our two offices you walk into.
We check that for you before the appointment. Call with your card in hand, tell us the carrier, the group number and the state your employer is in, and we'll tell you which of our offices is in network for your plan and what your visit will cost. If neither is, we'll say that too, and you'll have the number before you sit in a chair rather than after.

Dr. Beau Sparkman, DDS and Dr. Joseph Farmer, DDS practice at both locations, so switching offices doesn't mean switching dentists. Dr. Blain VanNice, DDS is at the Fort Smith office. On hygiene, Cindy Saulsberry, RDH is in Fort Smith and Raegan McGee, RDH is in Roland. Laura Williams, RDH works both, and Sarah Trotter, RDH is licensed in Arkansas and Oklahoma, which means she can clean your teeth in either state.
The practical version: a Pocola family can have one parent seen in Fort Smith on a lunch break off Highway 271 and the other seen in Roland on a day off, and the chart follows both of them.
Same Care, Either Address
Both offices do same-visit crowns, milled in-house from a digital scan instead of an impression tray. Both do implants planned with Image Guided Implantology, where a CBCT scan and a surgical guide typically bring placement down from roughly 50 minutes to 10 to 15. Both do sleep apnea and airway treatment, with 3D airway imaging, custom EMA and ProSomnus appliances and myofunctional therapy. Both do braces, Invisalign, dentures, root canals and emergency visits.

Both offices open at 8:00 a.m. Monday through Thursday, which is the slot commuters ask for most, so it books out further than the rest of the day. If your work is on the Arkansas side, a first-thing or lunch-hour appointment in Fort Smith usually costs you less of the day than taking a half-day for Roland. If you work from home or your day off lands midweek, Roland is the easier building to get in and out of.

Common questions.
I live in Pocola but my insurance is an Arkansas plan. Which office should I go to?
Call us with the card first. Some carriers are in network at both of our offices and some are in network at only one because the networks are state-specific. We'll tell you which before you book.
Can my family split between the two offices?
Yes. It's one practice and one record. Nobody re-registers, and X-rays taken at one office are available at the other.
I'm in Arkoma. Is Fort Smith or Roland closer?
For most of Arkoma, the Fort Smith office. For Pocola it depends where in town you are. Either works, so choose by whichever direction you're already driving that day.
Do you file Oklahoma plans at the Arkansas office and vice versa?
Yes, we file either way. Network status is the thing that varies, not our willingness to file, and that's exactly what we verify ahead of time.
What if I have a dental emergency?
Call whichever office is closer as early in the day as you can. We keep same-day room in the schedule and use it when we can. Facial swelling, or any difficulty breathing or swallowing, is an emergency room matter rather than a dental one.
